Kambo

Kambo is a remedy from the Amazon rainforest. It is a mucus scraped off the back of a certain species of toad. It is used by shamans and healers to cleanse the body and especially the blood. A small, glowing piece of wood is used to scorch the top layer of the skin and then the slime is applied. This apparently causes the body to rid itself of toxins. According to the shamans I have spoken to, the toad's poison does not get into the blood. It remains on the skin and is removed afterwards. The effect is impressive. Usually, people who undergo this ritual throw up violently. Others are drawn to the toilet to empty their bowels completely. Sometimes both happens. As a rule, three to four applications are made at short intervals. It can be more if necessary. Indigenous peoples use Kambo before hunting, as it significantly improves perception for a few days.

I have personally observed very good results in connection with Kambo for women who suffered from severe menstrual cramps. Menstruation is an additional detoxification mechanism that men do not have. Women use it to cleanse their blood. It seems that there is a direct connection between menstrual pain and the body's pollution load. The cleaner the blood, the less pain. I was particularly pleased by the case of a woman who has been very close to me for years. She always had severe pain. Until I was finally able to get her to detox properly. Since then, she has experienced her periods without pain and has never again asked me for painkillers when she came to visit.

I experienced an interesting twist at the beginning of 2023 when I myself took part in three Kambo sessions over the course of a month. After a short conversation about the current life situation, the shaman applied the Kambo to the trigger points corresponding to my pent-up emotions. This triggered fierce emotional reactions in addition to the physical emptying. The process of emotional cleansing then took several weeks. It was exhausting but tremendously liberating. I was able to process experiences that I was not even aware I was still carrying around with me. The other participants felt the same way. I will definitely repeat the process. I can only describe the result as entirely positive.
